Delicate Bow Necklace
[Fashion accessory tutorial]
Couple weeks ago I stumbled across an article on harpersbazaar.com about an Art Director who one day decided to wear the exact same style to work every day: a white shirt, black pants and for personal detail a black leather rosette. I am not a fan of work uniform but I really love her idea to wear a delicate leather bow as necklace.
In the article she mentioned that her bow necklace was customized for her, so in this tutorial I show you how you can customize yours. The special leather lock on the bow is what makes this necklace special. It forms a perfect bow and allows you to vary the size of it. Easy tutorial with a stylish result.
You will need:
- leather found cord or any other cordon your choice
- 2-4 big beads
- small piece of leather or similar
- super glue, scissors, Washi tape, thimble, thread and needle
1. Shape the leather cord into a ring and secure it with 2 Washi tapes.
2. Cut a thin leather strap approximately 2 cm wide and 5 cm long.
3. Wrap the leather piece around the ring between the tapes and hand stitch tight along the edge.
4. Cross the cord ends and secure with two Washi tapes.
5. Wrap the leather end tight over the loop and hand stitch in the middle.
6. Cut off the remaining leather end.
7. Thread the cord ends through the beads. Secure the beads with a double knot.
8. Apply a drop of glue between the two rings of the knot and press them together until the glue is dried.
The leather lock makes the leather bow adjustable. You can vary the size and the length of the necklace.
