Embellished Denim Shorts
[Old shorts makeover]
I love the current trend for ripped or washed out denim shorts. What used to be an inappropriate clothing for most occasions became now de rigueur. Whether you paire your shorts with comfy blazer or sophisticated blouse the main thing is that you look chic. The chicer, the better. And the best thing about the “worn off” shorts is that not only they are comfortable, but also affordable. Because absolutely everyone can grab a pair of scissors and turn an old jeans into trendy ripped hotpants.
Today I show you how to upcycle your recycled denim shorts. Yeah, I know. Fancy and environmentally friendly :). Inspired by the jeweled pieces of the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 14 collection I came up with an idea how to turn my old shorts into chic statement piece with vintage charm. I simply attached old necklace elements to the front of the shorts. Once you don’t like the jewels anymore you can easily remove them anytime. This DIY was also featured in the latest issuer of the German fashion magazine COUCH.

Issue 5/14 |
You will need small scissors, thick thread & needle, pencil, various beads, jewels or old necklace. |
For this project you can use your old denim shorts. |
Place the jewels all over the front of your shorts. |
If you’re using different elements I suggest to make a picture of your design for reference. |
Before you remove the elements mark the placement with the pencil. |
Attach the jewels to the shorts by using thread and needle. Use the picture on your phone as reference. |
Now take the small beads and attach them around the jewels. This step is optional. |
